Core Empowerment Training and Emotionally Intelligent Leadership.

Core Empowerment Training (CET) is not another self development course in the buddy, buddy system of management. On the contrary, we have been conditioned by many influences and these can be our stumbling block when it comes to having a complete vision of how self and others integrate to maintain the very important communication channel that needs to be healthy if a Corporation is to succeed in the 21st Century global market.

The key to improvement in emotionally intelligent leadership is being aware of the patterns we develop over the years; the conditioning we are exposed to and the beliefs we hold as true but are not grounded in who we really are. To uncover this blind spot an exploration into self-inquiry is necessary.

The CET Programme

Self-enquiry is the root of CET training, and for an organisation to benefit, the leaders need to take on board that it takes at least five days to begin to recognise our patterns and go into self inquiry; the belief that nothing will change generates its own power just by its verbalisation. When old destructive patterns emerge during the training process, that in itself can be regenerating as they no longer have unconscious control over us. The programme is not to get rid of unwanted patterns; only to acknowledge that they are there, so disallowing any unconscious control they may have over us. The most advantageous way an organisation can use CET is if it has leaders from different divisions take part in the training programme. This allows for more honest and open communication, without fear of confidences being exposed. If a change is looked for within the organisation, a change within the leadership can filter down throughout the company.

Self and other awareness and empathy training programmes often utilise Eastern mind/body approaches and techniques. In CET these techniques are aided by Western psychology and the experience of the originator of the training, Dr. Paula Horan. As an EI consultant and CET trainer Paula's work is unique in combining the best of Eastern and Western tools for the development of EI competencies, such as self and other awareness and empathy. CET is a practical and powerful tool for enhancing emotionally intelligent leadership skills in managers and executives.
