Background/History
Irene's interest in human potential and personal development began in her teens as a trainee teacher at Newlands College, London. She then moved to the United States to study Drama and Theatre Direction at Harvard University, Boston, Massachusetts.
After working in Europe, she returned to Scotland to study Psychology at the University of Stirling, being awarded her degree: Bachelor of Science.
In Aberdeen, Irene worked with adults who had learning difficulties. At this time she continued with developing her own skills, gaining a Certificate for the postgraduate course in Person Centred Counselling and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy at Northern College, Aberdeen.
During this period Irene developed an interest in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and Hypnotherapy. She studied and earned her Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy with the London College of Clinical Hypnosis.
After being awarded her diploma, Irene went on to attain several Master Class Awards from the LCCH, including NLP, Stress Relief, Past Life Regression, Inner Child, and Life and Sports Enhancement. Irene is a full Member of the British Society of Clinical Hypnotherapists.
A practising consultant for many years, Irene's numerous clients have included business or professional people. She has learned about the many communication problems within business organisations and the need for greater self-and-other awareness by all members of these organisations.
As a result of her experience with various organisations, Irene decided to pursue business and management processes through a Master's Degree in Entrepreneurship and Management at the University of Aberdeen. Given her interest in communication in the workplace, her dissertation covered research into Emotional Intelligence (effective communication) and Leadership - her research paper was entitled 'Is Emotional Intelligence a prerequisite for Effective Leaderhip?'
Recently, Irene has become involved with Core Empowerment Training (CET) under the tutelage of Dr Paula Horan in India.
CET is a holistic approach centred on the individual attaining self-mastery and learning how to work from the heart as well as the mind.
The training is concerned with self-and-other awareness, as well as self-fulfillment. It provides tools and techniques for engendering and advancing Emotional Intelligence, and a series of seminars and training programmes have been developed for business organisations.
Irene is now enthused about sharing the benefits of her experience and skills through Holistic Training Scotland. Her qualifications and skill set are complimentary, enabling her to adopt a holistic approach when working with individuals and organisations.
Organisations can benefit from this unique and proven approach to improving their effectiveness.
